Since the festive feels are all around, I thought why not do a post on it. So its Diwali time here, also known as the festival of lights. It is a celebration of good over the evil, with lighting of lamps, gathering of friends and family, colorful dresses and lots of yum food. Just like how a festival should be celebrated.
Even when I was a child, though I grew up in a different country we always made sure to get together with friends and celebrate this lively festival for sure, so it never did feel like I was missing anything.
The houses are generally decorated with flowers and lights. Outside the house creative pretty artworks make it extra special. It's just this whole vibrance and fragrance that fills the air with such warmth, togetherness and hope. And honestly speaking, the world could do with more of such days for sure.
And when it comes to dressing up for the festival, everyone goes a little dressy, colorful and in their best ethnic wear. It's only once in a while that I do my ethnic right and this is one of those times. This time I loved pairing a plain cotton top and bottom with this super pretty banarasi dupatta (stole) and minimal jewelry, just the way I like it!!! Comfortable minimalism is in this definitely in this Diwali, be it trendy co-ords, crop top - lehangas, ethnic designed trousers - tops and vibrant colors. Take your own pick! (More on personal style in my upcoming posts).
Who doesn't enjoy when the skies light up with beautiful firecrackers, so did I when I was kid (also was a bit of a daredevil). It's all fun when everyone gets together and fires various kinds of crackers and stuff, but over the years you realize how much of a damage this was and is doing to our environment and animals around us. These days due to increased pollution and considering the affect it has on pets, the fireworks and crackers have gone down quite a bit, which I believe is a good thing and needed.Climate change is a real thing, we have to do our bit and also it's our duty to protect our little babies (pets) who can't speak! So be considerate!
Takeaways from Diwali:
So Happy Diwali! Have a safe and prosperous year ahead. Hope the light brightens outside and within you always. Keep it going for you and for others.
P.S. Diwali, without doubt has to be one of my most favorite festivals around the year, just for the vibe it carries and the fact that people wait for it a whole year, literally. What is your favorite festival or holiday?

Takeaways from Diwali:
- There is always light around you, you just need to look carefully (in any situation).
- Have patience, eventually everything will be okay (sometimes good things take time).
- The good will always triumph no matter what (do good, your rewards on the way)
- And, calories do not add up during this period, hog on whatever you want!!
