Winter fashion pointers you should know!

Hi guys,

Moi is back! While thinking what my next post should be, a friend suggested that I do a post on winter fashion and it seemed appropriate. I mean right? Doing this while having some ginger chai (tea), so pretty apt I would say! Also, who doesn't like winters after all right? But when it comes to winter dressing it can be quite tricky, well it does not have to be if you focus just a little on it.

Just because it is the winters, you do not have to look basic, plain or boring. Let’s jazz up a little this time! Winter is all about pretty scarfs, sweaters, coats, boots and hot teas! Sounds cozy doesn’t it? That is the base mood for winters, for me at least and I am sure for a lot of you as well.

Always wanted to wear those boots, but felt the weather isn’t supporting you or the occasion, then wait no longer, cuz that is what the winter is here for! So pick those boots you have been hiding in the shoe cupboard or buy those which you have been eyeing, life is too short to not buy shoes. Knee high boots are still in fashion, be it in leather, suede or knitted. If you are not a fan of knee length, you can also go for ankle length boots and add some vigour to your skinny jeans, tights or short skirts.

So, what comes to your mind, the first thing when you talk about winters? Sweaters? Remember the sweaters that your grandma used to make or makes or have that image in your head, thanks to all the TV shows (cuz none of my grandmas did, neither did my mom, having major FOMO now!). Anyhow the point here being, the quilts seem to be back in fashion, in form of sweaters or shawls/scarfs, ponchos, overalls or kaftans. So, next time your grandmas gets you those, just keep them, one they are made with love and two you never know what might make you look trendy. You can also just go crazy with some solid knits t-shirts or pull overs, and winter does not have to be gloomy, try out some bright colors, but solid ones so they can be used in various occasions. You can also add on extra scarfs to give it an edgy look depending on the appropriateness of it.

Layering always makes your look quirky and winters are the best time to try them out, be it jackets, trench coats, blazers, pullovers or shrugs, depending on the severity of cold and for what you are dressing up. This is actually pretty fun too, as you can play around with the layers, its material, design and its patterns. Pair plain tee and trousers with a funky embrioded or patterned jacket or go the other way around. For a more official or professional appearance, blazers and trench coats can do the trick, they are mostly classic and can be paired with tops and shirts effortlessly. Also, have you guys checked out ponchos? They are pretty chic and breezy. They come in different materials and styles and can be your go-to this winters, to create your own fashion statement. Use them as a part of layering or on own their town, anything works.

Pro tip: Winter also brings with it, its own woes, the main one being dry chappy skin, so do make sure to stay moisturised at all times. Cetaphil would be my go-to for dry skin any day, just for the fact that it is not only gentle on the skin but also keeps it hydrated for longer (not a paid promotion I promise).

P.S. Winter is my favorite time of the year and why the hell not, I get to have unlimited number of chais and junk food, which otherwise feels too junky (you get it!). What is your favorite season? And if you have any fashion tips other than those mentioned above, then please leave a comment or reach out to me. Also, travel post coming up after this, so stay tuned homies! Lots of love. :D
